Game Setup
Boggle uses a 4×4 grid with 16 letter dice. Each dice has 6 faces with different letters. The dice are randomly arranged to create a unique board every game.
Special Rule: The "Qu" Tile
One special dice face shows "Qu" instead of a single letter. This is because Q almost always appears with U in English words. The "Qu" tile counts as 2 letters but only occupies 1 dice position. For example, spelling "QUIET" uses the Qu tile plus I, E, T — making it a 5-letter word.
Valid Words
- Minimum length: Words must be at least 3 letters long.
- Adjacent letters: Letters must be touching — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
- No reuse: Each letter dice can only be used once per word.
- Any direction: Your word path can twist and turn in any direction.
- Dictionary words only: Proper nouns, abbreviations, and hyphenated words are not allowed.
