Click and drag (or swipe on mobile) across letters in a straight line to select a word. Words can go horizontal, vertical, or diagonal — including backwards.
Words are hidden in all 8 directions: left, right, up, down, and all four diagonals. Keep an eye out for diagonal words — there are plenty!

Each found word lights up in a unique colour on the board and is checked off the list. Find all words to complete the puzzle.

The most common mistake is scanning left-to-right only. Words can appear backwards and in all diagonal directions. For each row, scan left-to-right AND right-to-left. For each column, scan top-to-bottom AND bottom-to-top. Then do the same for both diagonal directions. Methodical scanning covers all 8 possible word orientations.
Scan the word list for words containing unique or rare letters — J, Q, X, Z, and W are much easier to spot in a grid than common letters like E, A, or T. Find these distinctive letters on the board first, then check the surrounding letters to see if they match any target word from the list.
Long words are easier to find because they create a clearer visual pattern in the grid. A 7-letter word stands out visually in a way that a 3-letter word doesn't. Plus, short words often appear in multiple places, causing false positives that waste time.
Boggle exercises vocabulary recall and quick thinking — you create words under time pressure from adjacent letters. Word Search exercises visual scanning and pattern recognition — you hunt for known words hidden in a larger field. Playing both gives your brain a more complete cognitive workout.
